Latest Updates from Our Project:

Taking a Look at Brotherhood . . . and the Conclusion of the Kickstarter!
over 1 year ago – Tue, May 30, 2023 at 07:28:52 PM

With less than 48 hours until the Warzone Eternal Kickstarter comes to an end, we have a bunch of exciting, and important, updates!

The Brotherhood

Wrapping up our faction focus articles, I take a look at the Brotherhood and the highly skilled warriors they bring to the battlefields of Warzone Eternal.  Those Mortificators are going to get you!

Brotherhood - The Faith & The Shield

Kickstarter Campaign Shirts!

Some licensing clarifications out of the way and a great logo in hand, we're excited to announce that limited edition Warzone Eternal shirts are available as Add-Ons for all backers.  After this campaign, these designs will only be available at shows at which Res Nova is exhibiting.  These will be 100% cotton, so order slightly larger as they'll likely shrink somewhat.

Live on GenCon TV!

Tomorrow (Wednesday the 31st) at 7pm ET, I'll be joining Rick Ankney on GenCon TV (on Twitch) for the first episode of his new show, Path of the Brush.  We'll be painting some prototype Venusian Rangers, chatting about the Kickstarter and Warzone/Mutant Chronicles in general, and gushing about our favorite convention in the world, GenCon!

Pledge Management & Item Selection

A number of you have inquired into the option of swapping out starter sets from your selected pledge level in exchange for unit expansion boxes or other add-ons, as well as asked questions about the process of modifying pledged amounts to account for add-ons.  Getting some final answers from our pledge manager, BackerKit, we're able to provide the following guidance that we hope is comprehensive.

1. As detailed in the FAQ, regardless of which pledge level you have selected, you may use the "Manage My Pledge" option to change your pledge until the campaign ends and add additional funds above and beyond what is required for your current pledge level.  These funds can then be used to select Add-Ons from the list of campaign Add-Ons.  Any excess funds will appear as credits in BackerKit and may be used to select additional Add-Ons or pay shipping costs.

2. Additional funds may be added in BackerKit as well to select any Add-Ons that you decide upon following the conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign.

3. If you have decided that you do not want the items in your current pledge level (for example, you have decided that you want to pick up unit boxes instead of a faction starter), you have two options:

  • You may change your current pledge to the $10 Observer or $25 Recon (if you want the rulebook) now, and the extra money that you had pledged to cover the costs of a higher pledge level will appear as credits in BackerKit.  These credits can then be used to select any campaign Add-Ons.  Any Add-Ons that you select now in Kickstarter will automatically populate in BackerKit and will not be able to be changed in the pledge manager.
  • You may keep your current pledge as is, and when the BackerKit pledge manager opens up you will have the option of rejecting your current pledge level.  This will then convert that pledged amount into credits that you can use for Add-Ons.  Note, just like in the preceding scenario, any Add-Ons you select in the Kickstarter campaign will appear in your pledge manager and cannot be changed later.

4. For those Early Bird backers who are concerned about access to the Archangel or Skirmish+ backers concerned about the free items associated with those pledge levels, we are going to honor those even if you change your pledge level to something below Skirmish (such as Observer or Recon) as long as the total amount pledged in the Kickstarter equals or exceeds the value of the Skirmish pledge ($120 USD).

Hopefully that answers most of the questions any of you have, but, if not, please message me and I'll get you sorted as quickly as possible.

Humanity's Greatest Foe and an Ally in the Fight

The Lord of Destruction

Carrying on with our dive into the factions of Warzone Eternal, I've posted the next blog update, this time looking at the forces of Algeroth, Apostle of War.  As long-time Warzone fans will expect, this force is constructed somewhat differently to those of its corporate enemies.  Tomorrow I'll take a look at the Brotherhood and its unique features.

Algeroth - The Apostle of War

 The Cartel Arrives

Formed to help coordinate corporate activities and Brotherhood cooperation in the fight against the Dark Legion, the Cartel is the home of the famed Doomtroopers.  But the vast majority of men and women that comprise this organization are field agents, assigned to work with corporate forces and bring their unique skills sets to bear.

3D render. Design subject to change.

While Cartel forces are not something we'll be getting to soon, Rich Erickson was able to pull together a limited edition model as a celebration of the success of this Kickstarter.  This agent (who can be allied into any corporate force), pulled out of the office and taking to the field with her trusty Punisher in hand, is a bit of an homage to a classic model that tended to be fielded as Cartel as much as her intended purpose.  "No Prize" to the first person who can identify the inspiration.

This Limited Edition agent (the eventual regular release agent will be posed differently and part of a set of Cartel agents), if unlocked at $155,000, will be free to all Skirmish level backers and up, or as a $7 Add-On.  As with some of the other items we've added on as freebies, backers with a pledge value equaling or exceeding the Skirmish pledge level will also qualify.

Until tomorrow!

A Look at the Lord Heirs
over 1 year ago – Sat, May 27, 2023 at 10:17:27 AM

Here in the States we're celebrating Memorial Day this weekend.  While it generally entails barbecues and working on the yard in preparation for the summer, it's also a reminder that, while we can enjoy the bombastic narrative of a game like Warzone Eternal, real war has dire consequences and we should take a moment to consider those who lost their lives in service.

Mishima Faction Focus

Carrying on with our overviews of the factions launching as part of the Warzone Eternal Kickstarter, I next dive into Mishima, that engimatic corporation of scheming siblings and tradition-bound samurai.

Honor & Industry - The Mishima Megacorporation

Next week we'll wrap up our faction overviews when we take a look at the two most diametrically opposed forces in the Mutant Chronicles universe - the Brotherhood and the Dark Legion forces of Algeroth, Apostle of Destruction.

We also have a last few reveals that we've just been able to lock down in time for the wrap-up of the campaign.  I'll see you then!

Looking down the road beyond the Warzone Eternal Kickstarter
over 1 year ago – Thu, May 25, 2023 at 07:00:12 PM

With less than a week to go before this amazingly successful Kickstarter (thank you all again!) wraps up, I'd like to take a moment to talk about the future.  In part this is to address the concerns expressed by some that the status of this crowd-funding effort is going to result in the production of this first collection of models, and that's it.  But the other part is my desire to share some of the exciting work that we've already started to help sustain Warzone Eternal beyond this campaign - which, I suppose, at least partially addresses the concerns from that first part.

While there's no question that the vast majority of our efforts post-Kickstarter will be to wrap up production and complete fulfillment, the success of this Kickstarter means we can already start working on those models that will build out each of our launch factions - though, to be clear, these will not be available until well after campaign fulfillment has wrapped.

For Imperial, this means the introduction of the iconic Wolfbanes, which will be sculpted by the talented Michał Marciniak of Titan-Forge miniatures, one of our sculpting partners moving forward.  Below you can see Michał's initial proof of concept sculpt for a standard Wolfbane Commando, complete with their rugged leather armor, heavy pauldrons, and standard armament of Aggressor pistol and Punisher shortsword.  Given the wide variety of Wolfbane units that have existed in the past, we're not entirely sure of the composition of this Unit Box, but we're excited to get them on the playtesting table.

For another sneak peek at some future work, go check out the Chronicles from the Warzone blog over at the Res Nova games site: Concepting a Monster - The Immaculate Fury

There I provide a behind the scenes view of the process of taking the disparate artwork and past miniatures sculpts and creating a new concept, incorporating the iconic design elements while refining some details, specifically for Algeroth's screaming killer, the Immaculate Fury.  If this kind of article is something you like, let me know and we'll look for more opportunities in the future.

A Look at Imperial, and a Battle Report!
over 1 year ago – Wed, May 24, 2023 at 07:46:50 PM

Imperial Faction Overview

We continue our tour of the factions of Warzone Eternal over on the Chronicles from the Warzone blog, this time turning to Imperial, that pride-soaked collection of feuding clans and steadfast soldiers.  You can find that here:

Unity & Determination - The Imperial Megacorporation

A Surprise Battle Report Appears

A number of you have asked for more examples of the game being played, so last night Rick Hall from the Deadzone Podcast and I met up at Thunderforge Studios to capture a playthrough of the Capitol and Brotherhood Starter Boxes facing off in an objective-grab mission.  With some quick editing to get this into your hands as soon as possible, this is a no-frills presentation.  But we hope it helps further illustrate the quick play and continuous engagement of a Warzone Eternal game.

Follow this link to Youtube!

If you have any specific requests for a future match-up, let me know in the comments and we'll see what we can do.

Look for another update tomorrow where I take a look at some plans already in the works for Warzone Eternal's continued development beyond this Kickstarter campaign.  Talk soon!
